Inclusion

“We are committed to championing better work and working lives by creating a positive, diverse and inclusive work culture. Everyone is welcome at DK, it’s already a great place to work and we know we can do even more to support our colleagues.”
DK is committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the varied communities that read our books across the world. We encourage applications from all individuals, regardless of age, religion, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality or social background.
Promoting an inclusive workplace
We have never required our colleagues to have university degrees and this continues today.
We conduct Unconscious Bias Training for all our staff to provide us with the tools to build a more inclusive workplace.
We are already working on diversity and inclusion approaches that will positively impact DK’s culture in the future.
We will continue to offer equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender or background.
We help everyone to achieve their career aspirations whatever they may be.
We support flexible working for all.
We offer excellent maternity and adoption benefits and will identify how we can support all new parents returning to work.
Having a voice
At DK, we understand that collaboration and open conversations are crucial to building a better workplace, and colleagues can have their say at the DK UK Forum.
These Forum meetings, chaired by the DK CEO, are held quarterly and consist of elected employee representatives from across all of DK UK. These representatives proactively seek out the views and feedback of their business areas, discuss these with the Forum members, and then share information with their colleagues.
Giving back

DK supports colleagues taking part in fundraising efforts and has a volunteering policy which gives everyone the opportunity to participate in a range of activities, including helping children to learn to read at a local school. Homeless charity The Connection at St Martin’s is DK UK’s charity partner of the year for 2019. As well as fundraising, DK colleagues are able to participate in a variety of volunteering opportunities, including kitchen, gardening and sorting donations at the centre.
Communities
DK encourages colleagues to form networks and societies. bringing people together through shared interests, to establish safe spaces and raise awareness about the things that are important to our staff.
