Tatooine. It’s enduring and complex, with a long history of great stories to tell.
Perhaps more of an honor than strange, but I never expected to find myself speaking on Star Wars panels at comic-cons or finding peers among other Star Wars content creators. Really the publicity side of things is something I never even considered when I began writing about Star Wars. It was just such a thrill to work with the material itself. So everything else has come as a surprise bonus!
Usually that involves coffee. I love interacting with Star Wars fans on social media, listening to great Star Wars podcasts like Rebel Force Radio, and doing some sketches inspired by stories that I’m writing.
As concerns my work, that would be my Apple gadgets, my Copic markers, and my music CD collection (which includes a lot of John Williams, Michael Giacchino, and Bear McCreary).
The research I must always do inevitably leads me to look at all the great products made by Marvel & Star Wars licensees like Hasbro, LEGO, Gentle Giant, Sideshow, Funko and Anovos. It’s really hard not to get distracted down rabbit holes and turn my research into a shopping spree!
I’ve been blessed to work on a lot of exciting projects, so it is hard to pick just one. The first of anything tends to be a landmark achievement, so among those would be my first books on travel, Star Wars, LEGO, and Marvel.
I never expected to see behind the scenes and advanced information on a Star Wars project like Star Wars Rebels™. I was so excited when I got a peek at the characters and stories from the show while I was working on Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide. Then getting to actually meet and interview the creators was way beyond my expectations!
I have a stack of about 20 Star Wars reference books on my desk that I’m flipping through at the moment. I’m actively catching up on all of Marvel’s Star Wars and Spider-Man comics, and hoping to start reading Star Wars Battlefront: Twilight Company shortly.
There are so many things to be excited about now. Foremost of course, I can’t wait to see what happens to the new characters like Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren in Episodes VIII and IX. Of course I adore Star Wars Rebels, so seeing what happens to the crew of the Ghost is important to me. I’ve really enjoyed EA’s Star Wars Battlefront too, so I can’t wait to see what comes next from them.
