8 Top Tips for enjoying Comic Con

8 Top Tips for enjoying Comic Con

The DK team has been to Comic Con at Excel in London a number of times both to exhibit and to enjoy and mingle. We want to share some of our top tips for getting the most out of your time at the event whether you go to Comic Con London, Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin, Belfast or Scotland or even in the US.

1. Bring plenty of cash

The biggest queues at Comic Con are for the cash machines. Don’t lose valuable browsing time by being stuck in one. Make sure you bring more money than you think you will need. Don’t leave it until you get to the venue as there are not enough machines for everyone - and some of the machines may charge! It’s worth noting that many stands only take cash so don’t rely on being able to use your debit/credit card.

2. Plan your costume for comfort and convenience as well as the wow factor

Make sure you are able to sit as well as stand comfortably in your outfit; it needs to be easy for you to make it to the ‘conveniences. You don’t want to be caught short! However the wow factor is also important - if you have it then be ready and willing to have your photo taken with fellow fans.

These two definitely had the wow factor!

3. Bring a bottle of water

It’s going to get hot in your costume so make sure to stay hydrated.

4.Look out for the best freebies

There are all sorts of freebies from photographs with characters (the Minions and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were just some of DK’s highlights at Comic Con London in May), and badges and postcards just to name a few. Visit DK’s stand at Comic Con from 24th - 26th October for the ultimate freebie - a Star Wars™ green screen photograph!

5. Respect people who charge

Lots of the Comic Con stars and attendees do charge for photographs, signings and artwork. So budget for who you want to see. Don’t take photos on your phone of people who are charging as it’s just disrespectful.

6. Plan

If there is someone you really want to see or a signing you want to attend make sure you book in advance so that you are not disappointed. Some of the big names are sold out weeks before the event. Follow @MCMComicCon for all the latest news and book via MCM Comic Con’s website.

7. Go with the flow

These two tips may seem complete opposites but they are the best way to enjoy your day or weekend. Comic Con will be busy so just go with the crowd and see where it takes you. Even if you are not into Comics check out this area to discover truly original fan art.

8. Take your time to enjoy all on offer

There is so much to see and do make sure you plan to be there for a whole day. There are talks, signings and also lots hidden away on smaller stands for you to enjoy. However, you may want to make sure the next day is reserved as a duvet day…

These tips will help you get the most out of your Comic Con experience whether you are at Comic Con for the first time or a seasoned pro.
