Blood, Sweat and Bond follows the production of the 24th James Bond film, taking you behind the scenes of Spectre. We’ve picked two photographs from the opening of the film, set during Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico City. Director Sam Mendes and Production Designer Dennis Gassner give an insight into the opening scenes of this epic film.
‘I wanted that combination of sinister and celebratory that you can only get with something like Day of the Dead. When the film opens, it’s almost like the perfect mission and everything is going to plan, but then there’s a game-changing moment.’ - Sam Mendes

‘I asked Sam what he would like to see as a starting point for the film and he said ‘why don’t we look for something hot and cold?’ we travelled to Mexico, Austria and Morocco. We just kept expanding and expanding the concept’ - Dennis Gassner
