Street of the Future Competition

Submit your child's or students' ideas!

We're updating our classic book A Street Through Time, and as part of this we want to know what children think a street will look like in 2070! We're inviting you to have your child or class draw and write about the street of the future. To help inspire them we have some things they may want to think about below.

Tell us about any or all of these four areas. It’s up to you which ones to pick:

Transport

How will you travel in the future? What vehicles will you see in the street? How will you get to school?

Buildings

How will buildings look? Will there be buildings? What will they be made of? Will there be shops on the street? What kind of shops and buildings will there be?

Clothes

What will you be wearing in 2070? Will we need to wear anything to help us in our everyday life? What will clothes be made out of?

Home

What will your home be like? Will it be in one place or will it move? How many rooms will there be and who will you live with? What kind of things will you have in your home?

To say thank you for these ideas we will enter you into a competition to win £50 of DK children’s books. Just click “Yes” when you get to Question 9 on the online form. The idea must be submitted by someone over 18. We do not want individual children's names as we take data protection very seriously. If you are under 18 and want to enter please ask a parent/guardian/carer to do this for you.

How to enter

Option 1:

• Download and print the form below.

• Have your child or class draw and write about what a street in 2070 will look like, and fill out the form. The form can be used by libraries and classes as well as individuals; here’s an idea for how to build a lesson around this.

• Scan in your child’s entry or a whole class of entries at this link by Friday 22nd March 2019.

Option 2:

• You can submit a child’s idea without the printed out form! Simply visit the entry website at this link and type in your children's answers. The last day for entry is Friday 22nd March 2019.
