Inclusion and Impact

Our Books

At DK India, we are committed to making inclusive books that reflect the rich diversity of the world we live in. From the stories we tell and the people we represent to the contributors we work with and the ways we reach our readers, inclusivity is at the forefront of our decision-making.

Our books represent all people regardless of age, ability and disability, gender, sexuality, religion and belief, caste, ethnicity, marital status, and pregnancy and parental status, as well as people of different body types and appearances. We want everyone to see themselves, their history, and their experiences reflected in our books, and strive to feature traditionally underrepresented identities, voices, and stories.

Our People

We are a diverse team of dedicated, passionate, and energetic individuals whose voices speak to, and reflect, our international readership. Individual differences – including faith, caste, ethnicity, mental health, disability, caring responsibilities, and socioeconomic background – are celebrated.

We recruit inclusively and have strong anti-discrimination and equal opportunity policies in place. We work in open, collaborative, and respectful ways so that everyone feels valued, empowered, and supported.

At our core, we believe knowledge shapes the world – and the most powerful knowledge comes from a rich tapestry of voices and perspectives. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just values we champion, but principles we live by every day. From the books we publish to the teams we build, we foster an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. At DK India, we ensure our work culture is as inclusive and dynamic as the content we create.

Our Partnerships

Every year we dedicate time and resources to local charities and communities, supporting causes that are close to our hearts. Our volunteering programme enables all employees to devote two calendar days in a year for social welfare activities, be it for fundraising or community outreach.

Our partners include:
  1. Room to Read, that works with local communities to promote reading habits in primary schools and educational rights for girls.
  2. Silverlinings, working towards inclusive education for blind children.
  3. The Community Library Project (TCLP), an anti-caste initiative running publicly owned libraries in Delhi that are accessible to all.
  4. St. Jude, supporting children undergoing treatments for chronic diseases by providing safe, cost-free accommodation.
  5. Goonj, which addresses crucial gaps in social infrastructure, environment, health, and relief and rehabilitation.
